The Flora of Kawartha Lakes @ Uxbridge Senior’s Centre, 75 Marietta Street, Uxbridge
Dale Leadbeater, an enthusiastic botanist, will talk about her ten year adventure examining plants in the City of Kawartha Lakes. She, along with many volunteers from the Kawartha Field Naturalists explored and documented plant communities found in waterbodies and landscapes of the Kawarthas. Their detailed study resulted in the publication of a guide titled “The Flora of Kawartha Lakes”. The public is invited to attend and learn more about the fascinating plants that surround us.
Dale has had a fascination with plants and nature as long as she can remember. In grade 4 she joined the Junior Naturalists of the Federation of Ontario Naturalists, now known as ON Nature. Since that time she has been involved with a range of naturalists clubs, was President of Pickering Naturalists, and on the Board of the Oshawa Second Marsh Defence Association. After a career at the University of Toronto in Botany, she moved to a 200-acre wildlife preserve near Kirkfield. Dale is a member of the Kawartha Field Naturalists, and has always found much inspiration from the members.
